Every Season

In week six Pastor Chris Pedro dives into how we should worship and praise in every season.

Dive deeper into the message with these discussion questions!

Ps 34, 1 Sam. 21:10-15

General:

  • Pastor Chris said, “Theology should lead to doxology”—that is, knowing about God should lead to worshiping Him. Why is that connection so important? Why do you think some people grow in knowledge about God but struggle to worship God?
  • 1 Sam. 21:12 says David was “much afraid.” Can you think of a time when fear or uncertainty deeply unsettled you? Have you ever found yourself praising God in the middle of a fearful or unstable season?
  • When fear rises, why is it so difficult to move from anxiety to worship?
  • How does knowing the backstory of Psalm 34 (David’s desperation in 1 Samuel 21) change how you read it?
  • How do the words “I will bless the Lord at all times” strike you in light of what David was going through?
  • Re-read Ps. 34. What does this psalm reveal about what it looks like to worship in the midst of fear, not just after it’s passed?

Take Home 1: Trade fear for the Fear of the Lord (Ps. 34:4,11)

  • What does it mean to fear the Lord, and how is that different from the fear we often feel in life?
  • What are some fears you’re prone to carry in difficult or unknown seasons?
  • In Psalm 34:4, David says God delivered him “from all his fears”, but we know he was still in danger. What does that tell us about the kind of fear God removes?
  • Are you being ruled by fear, or are you rooted in the fear of the Lord?
  • Where is your fear currently leading you—to deeper trust or greater anxiety?

Take Home 2: Let worship be the constant (Ps. 34:1)

  • What might change if you made worship your first response instead of your last resort?
  • Can you recall a time when worship sustained or anchored you in the middle of hardship?
  • In what ways does worship shape your perspective in moments of fear, uncertainty, or transition?
  • What’s the “constant” in your life?

Take Home 3: In every season, come to Jesus

  • Jesus also faced suffering and grief—how does that shape your view of who He is and how He walks with us?
  • In seasons where God seems absent or silent, what truths from Psalm 34 or this message do you need to cling to?
  • When do you tend to come to Jesus? (Only in crisis? Only in joy? In every season?) What might it look like to come to Him daily?
  • What does “coming to Jesus” look like practically in your life right now?
  • If you believe God’s Word is true, how are you living, speaking, or singing that truth this week—even when life doesn’t make sense?
