Position: Communications Strategist

Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Wednesday-Sunday or Tuesday-Saturday

Responsibilities:

A Communications Strategist at Grace Community Church develops and executes communication strategies to elevate church-wide initiatives, events, and digital marketing. This role involves creating authentic copy and communication styles that reflect the church’s mission to reach the unchurched while supporting the creative team in promoting events and campaigns both internally and externally.

Key Duties:

  1. Event Communication:
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication for various church events, ensuring clear and timely information reaches the congregation. This involves creating promotional materials, plans for social media updates, and utilizing other communication channels.
  • Scheduling Social media posts for related campaigns, and scheduling emails.
  1. Church-Wide Communication:
  • Oversee and streamline church-wide communication processes. Maintain a consistent and cohesive communication strategy to keep members informed about important updates, announcements, and happenings within the community.
  • Create plans to present to the Creative Director, to ensure all assets and promotional assets are made.
  1. Digital Outreach:  
  • Engage with our online community by managing direct messages, comments, and overall activity across Grace’s social media platforms.  
  • Proactively research and implement digital strategies that accomplish our mission of reaching the unchurched, reflecting the love of Christ through our digital channels and presence.  
  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and ministries to create promotional copy for all printed assets, emails, and digital promotion items.
  1. Technology Utilization:
  • Stay attuned to communication trends and implement innovative approaches to engage the church community, and outside of the church.  
  • Stay informed about social media trends and digital marketing strategies to ensure Grace remains a welcoming digital front door, advancing our mission of reaching the unchurched.
  • Help conceptualize and create content to be used on various social media platforms to reach a number of different audiences.
  1. Feedback Mechanism:
  • Establish a feedback system to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies. Solicit input from the congregation and adjust as needed to enhance communication processes within the church and out.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in communication, public relations, or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant communication tools and platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of the church environment and a passion for effective communication within a church.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and platforms. (Notion, Sprout, Microsoft Suite)
  • Preferably a bachelor's degree, or experience within this field.

This interview process will consist of a first initial call with our HR director, followed by an interview with our Creative Director, following a group creative team interview and concluding with an interview with our leadership team.
