Hurricane Weekend Devotional - Part 1
Hey, Grace. It’s Pastor Chip. To anybody else who would be watching this, these are a couple of little updates we’re going to do. This is the first one. It’s just a little word of devotion to encourage you as we enter into the storm.
In John 16:33, Jesus says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Obviously, Jesus is talking about us being persecuted for Christianity, but I think that we can take this passage of Scripture to heart during the middle of this storm and realize that since Jesus has overcome the world, we truly can have peace in Him. No matter what comes our way, no matter what storms come our way, no matter what difficulties come our way, we have a solid rock in Jesus. What I want to do is encourage you that if you’re fearful right now, if you’re doubting right now, if you’re questioning right now, I’d like you to just take a moment and open up your Bible or flip open your phone and read that passage of Scripture aloud to yourself, and I’ll read it to you again.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.”
Let God speak peace to you right now. Let the peace of God surpass all understanding. Let it fill your hearts and minds.
He goes on to say, “In the world you will have tribulation.”
You’re going to have issues. You’re going to have hurricanes.
“But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
So, I hope that encourages you right now. Speak these words out. Read these passages of Scripture. Let them speak to you. We’re going to get through this thing together and we’re going to join together next weekend and we’re going to worship the Lord and have a wonderful time. I will see you on the other side.
